How to share a Folder in Microsoft Teams

With Microsoft Teams you can easily share individual files or entire folders with people who are not part of your organisation. Below is a quick guide on how to achieve this.


  1. From Microsoft Teams, open the Team that you want to share contents and click Files
  2. Click Open in SharepointMicrosoft Teams
  3. From the browser window that has opened, select the Folder you wish to share, then click Share share
  4. Type in the email address of the person who you wish to share the folder with, then click Sendshare folders in Teams

External Party

  1. Once the share link has been sent (step.4 above) the recipient entered will receive the following email:share folders in Teams
  2. Once they click on the link, Sharepoint will open in their browser and they can now open/view/edit files as required.
  3. If the recipient would like to add files to the Folder, they can simply drag-and-drop or click the Upload option.share folders in Teams
